Heidi Boyson, LMHC, is an experienced clinician with a specialty in loss and bereavement. She works directly with clients of all ages as well as a wider audience to destigmatize the topic and dispell myths about the grieving process.

She also has had significant losses personally, including death by suicide, which further informs the work and adds authenticity to her approach.

Heidi has a diverse professional background which includes living abroad for 16 years. She holds degrees in Mental Health Counseling and School Counseling from Alfred University, Play Therapy from Roehampton University, Humanistic-Integrative Counseling from CPPD (Centre for Personal and Professional Development) and Special Education from Columbia University.

Areas of specialization include:  Creative and Expressive Arts Therapies, Family Therapy, Mindfulness, Play Therapy, and Sandtray Work. She is also a certified Yoga and Mindfulness Instructor, Teacher, and School Counselor.

Membership and Volunteering

Member of National Alliance for Grieving Children (NAGC), Association for Play Therapy (APT), British Association of Play Therapy (BAPT).  Former Committee member for NAGC and APT.  Former Board Member and committee member of BAPT’s Education and Training division, and former Board Member of BACP’s (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy) youth division.

Volunteer for Disaster Services at American Red Cross,  Social Justice programs at New York Cares,  and Best Friends Animal Shelter.
